College President Search
Meet the Finalists This Week
The college president finalists will be answering pre-submitted questions at open forums this week. You can attend in person or online, from 3-4 p.m. each day, in Conference Rooms A&B or via livestream. The link for each candidate, and their biography, can be found at deanza.edu/president-search.
Winter Quarter Registration Assistance
General Counseling Extended Drop-in Hours This Week
General Counseling is extending its in-person and online drop-in counseling hours this week to help students register for winter quarter. The full schedule and drop-in links can be accessed at deanza.edu/counseling/appointments. No appointment is needed for drop-in counseling.
Outreach Winter Registration Events Next Week
The Office of Outreach will be offering winter quarter registration assistance next week, Nov. 18-21, in Registration and Student Services (RSS) Building Room 146. Students can stop by for help with the registration process between 1-4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18; 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19; 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21. Counselors will also be available for students who need advice on choosing classes. While these events are primarily intended for first-time students, any student that needs assistance can drop by. Please RSVP in advance.
Transgender Awareness Week
Pride Center Events
Nov. 13-19 is Transgender Awareness Week, which honors and uplifts the transgender community. You can celebrate by attending a variety of events in the Pride Center (Library 158) this week.
Today, Nov. 12, special guest Helixir will be offering gender-affirming haircuts and drag makeup tutorials from 4-6 p.m. This Thursday, Nov. 14, there will be a clothing swap from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Next week, you can attend a name and gender marker change clinic on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 3-4 p.m. The Pride Center will close out the week with a chosen family dinner on Monday, Nov. 25, from 4-6 p.m. Please email Jamie Pelusi at pelusijamie@deanza.edu for questions and accomodations.
This Week
Career Training Open House Is Tomorrow, Nov. 13
The Career Training Open House is tomorrow, Nov. 13, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Main Quad. Students can learn more about the different career training programs at De Anza, which cover 25 fields – including computer science, film and television production, automotive technology, design manufacturing, healthcare, law and more. Faculty and staff members will be available to answer questions and will also host demonstrations and lead tours. See a full list of activities at deanza.edu/career-training/open-house.
Homecoming Football Game This Saturday, Nov. 16
The homecoming football game against College of the Siskiyous is this Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m.
There will be special pre-game activities starting at 12:30 p.m. and running through the half-time show. Make sure to wear burgundy and gold to show your school pride.
Students can also enter the game free of charge with a student ID. Come watch our undefeated team play!
Next Week
Handshake 101 Workshop Next Tuesday, Nov. 19
Students can learn how to use the Handshake career website by attending a workshop sponsored by De Anza’s Career Technical Education division and Handshake next Tuesday, Nov. 19. Topics include how to navigate the website, find internships and jobs and explore career interests. The event is free and will take place in the Business and Finance Village Center (AT 202). Please RSVP in advance on Handshake. Students should also bring a laptop as this is an interactive event.
Free Cold Weather Clothing at Resource Hub Next Week
Students can stop by the Resource Hub next Thursday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and next Friday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. to pick up free cold weather clothing. There will also be a prize drawing, mystery bags and hot chocolate.
Donations
Auto Tech Food Drive Was a Success
Auto Tech students delivered canned food and donations they received during their food drive to the Resource Hub last Thursday, Nov. 7.
The donations had to be transported using two truck beds and filled up the Resource Hub. Thank you to our amazing Auto Tech students for organizing this and thank you to all who donated.

Edwin Carungay’s Photos in Smithsonian Magazine Online Feature
Edwin Carungay, senior graphic designer in the Office of Communications, will have three of his photos shown in the online feature section of Smithsonian Magazine’s 22nd annual photo contest.
One of the selected photos, “Flor de Muerto,” can be seen next to this paragraph. Prize winners will be chosen at the end of spring.
