Update Scheduling Practices to Increase Timely Completion

This action plan will be a joint effort between the Office of Instruction, Guided Pathways, and instructional departments to review degree and certificate requirements, explore historical course offerings, optimize scheduling of courses based on enrollment demand and course-taking patterns, and update program maps.Working with divisions and departments to align scheduling of courses with program maps will assit in removing roadblocks for students to complete degrees and certificates as well as reducing the number of courses that get cancelled due to low enrollment.

  • Identify 5-year history of course scheduling for every course
  • Create master map of which degrees and certificates require which course
  • Begin with 2 departments and work with dean and scheduler to review

  • Ways to adjust scheduling to remove those roadblocks
  • Create an annual scheduling plan for roadblock courses for the 2025-26 year to begin with the Fall schedule for 2 departments (2 total)

Winter 2025

  • Work with 4 more departments and with dean and scheduler to review
  • Number of degrees and certificates earned
  • Roadblocks for achieving the degree and certificate
  • Ways to adjust scheduling to remove those roadblocks
  • Create an annual scheduling plan for roadblock courses for the 2026-27 year to begin with the Fall schedule for 4 departments (6 total)

Spring 2025

  • Work with 4 more departments and with dean and scheduler to review

  • Roadblocks for achieving the degree and certificate
