Leadership System Assessment Listening Sessions and Action Plan

October 22, 2026

Dear De Anza Community,

In my last message, I shared that stakeholder group sessions would follow the town hall on the Leadership System Assessment. I am writing now with the dates and times for these listening sessions and to invite you to attend with your constituency group.

If you were unable to attend the town hall, you can view the recording and slides on the De Anza College website.

These sessions matter because the assessment is only useful if it is accurate, and the action plan that follows will only work if it reflects the experience of the people who work at De Anza every day. Your input will help ensure the findings are correct before the report is finalized and that the action plan responds to what you see and live.

Listening Sessions

Each listening session is one hour on Zoom. Rather than presenting the summary of the assessment again, we will focus on specific examples from the findings and ask you to affirm them. I will attend every session, given my role overseeing implementation of the follow-up action plan.

Please join the session that works best for your schedule. You do not need to register.

One important note: Each session will use an AI notetaker to help us capture your input accurately. Notes will be kept confidential and anonymized, and comments will not be attributed to individuals.

I want to acknowledge that this may be difficult, but it is necessary for renewal of our great institution. We can only do this if we continue to work together and engage in honest conversations.

What Comes Next

In December, we will convene the steering committee, which, as I shared previously, includes two representatives each from faculty (appointed by Academic Senate), classified professionals (appointed by Classified Senate), and administrators (appointed by me). The committee’s charge has evolved: it will determine which recommendations will become priorities for a 90-day implementation plan, including the specific actions needed to address them. The final report will inform the committee’s work.

Thank you for your time and your candor.

Yours in service,
Chris
